Winter Tires

Fellow drivers, it's that time of year again! I've already put my winter tires on, but for those who don't have a set for their vehicle, I wanted to pass on this year's Consumer Search review! I found it very helpful for last year's purchase.

Michelin X-Ice Xi2

Best winter tire

    prosGeneral Altimax Arctic
  • Superior grip on ice and snow
  • Durable
  • Quiet
  • Low rolling resistance means better gas mileage
cons
  • Poor wet- and dry-road grip in some tests

General Altimax Arctic

"Budget snow tire"

    prosMichelin X-Ice Xi2

  • Inexpensive
  • Studdable

  • Unimpressive on dry roads
  • Less ice grip than Michelin X-Ice Xi2

Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5

Studded snow tire

  2. @TechnoMac, I bought a set of General Altimax Arctic's. i live on the west coast, so the ground is usually just wet from rain as opposed to snow/ice. plenty of grip in all winter conditions though.. plus they're fairly cheap
